IFK Göteborg's home stadium Gamla Ullevi is threatened by a cost of 1.8 billion kronor for a foundation strengthening and expansion. This according to a report from Got Event to the municipal council. Arvid Larsson, editor of Alltid Blåvitt, thinks that renovating Gamla Ullevi is not worth the cost. He believes that IFK Göteborg needs a new arena in the near future. Larsson thinks that the best alternative is for the city of Gothenburg to build a new arena on the site of Ullevi or Gamla Ullevi. This would give a completely different dimension to see their team play in the city compared to a 15-20 minute journey by tram. Now that three Gothenburg teams also play in Allsvenskan and share an arena, there is a need. The three alternatives for Gamla Ullevi are to do nothing, to carry out a necessary foundation strengthening without increasing the capacity or to carry out a comprehensive foundation strengthening combined with commercial premises and an additional 5,000 seats. The price tag for this massive project is estimated by the municipal property company Higab to be 1.6-1.8 billion kronor. Playing without an account means using e-identification for registration.
